Give Your Time · Give Your Heart
Money is not the only way to give back. Your time, your skills and your presence at Sindhu House mean just as much — and sometimes more — than any donation.
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds — Sindhi members, non-member Sindhis and friends of all races who wish to contribute to our community. Everyone is welcome here.
Why Give Your Time
Volunteering is never one-way. What you give comes back to you — in ways you might not expect.
Working side by side with people from the community creates bonds that formal events never do. Our volunteers become friends — for life.
For non-Sindhi volunteers especially — an extraordinary window into a 105-year-old community's traditions, food, festivals and warmth. Singapore at its best.
Event management, logistics, social media, photography, counselling — volunteering at SSA builds real, CV-worthy skills in a professional community context.
SSA recognises its volunteers publicly — at events, on the website, in circulars. Your contribution is seen and valued by the entire community.
There is no substitute for it. Knowing that you helped make an elderly Sindhi's Diwali special — or helped a family in need — is worth more than any salary.
Volunteers get behind-the-scenes access to all SSA events. You are not just an attendee — you are part of making it happen. A very different and special experience.
Available Roles
We have roles for every personality, skill set and availability. From one event a year to weekly involvement — find what suits you.
Help make SSA's events run smoothly — from setup to breakdown, registration to ushering. Our most popular volunteer role.
Care for the most vulnerable members of our community — elderly Sindhis, families in need and those going through difficult times.
Support SSA's cultural programmes — cooking classes, poetry evenings, Knowledge Series talks, Heritage pages. For those who love Sindhi culture.
Help SSA build and maintain its digital presence — website, social media, photography, videography and live streaming of events.
Support the SSA Secretariat with administrative work — helping the paid staff during busy periods and peak event seasons.
Be SSA's face in the wider Singapore community — representing us at inter-community events, government initiatives and neighbourhood activities.
From Our Volunteers
Replace these with real testimonials from SSA volunteers for maximum impact.
"I am not Sindhi — I am Chinese. But volunteering at the Diwali Open House changed my life. The warmth of this community is unlike anything I have experienced in Singapore."
"I started volunteering after I retired. I had skills, I had time, and I wanted to give back. SSA gave me purpose again. Driving the elderly aunties to Sindhu House every week — that is the highlight of my week."
"As a young Sindhi born in Singapore, I felt disconnected from my heritage. Volunteering at SSA reconnected me. Now I know who I am — and I am proud of it."
